Local Vendor Recommendations

So you’ve scheduled your photoshoot but now what? Maybe you don’t wear make-up very often and you’re a little uncomfortable applying it. Maybe you’re not sure how heavy or light the application should be. Maybe your dream portrait would be in a gown by Marchesa Notte or Badgley Mischka but you don’t want to spend $1000 for a dress you may wear only once. What to do?

The first thing you can do to help complete your dream photoshoot is hire a professional make-up artist and hair stylist. Trust me, you will not be disappointed. You will be able to sit back and relax while getting made over. Some local favorites in New York City that I prefer:

  • Glamsquad -  a great resource of talented make-up artists and hair stylists. You can book just make-up or hair, and if you book both they do their magic at the same time. Book online or via their app. Super easy!
  • DryBar and Cos Bar at Brookfield Place  - Drybar at Brookfield place is a great addition to lower Manhattan. They will wash and blow-dry your hair. All you need to do is pick a style from their menu, sit back and relax. After you’re finished with hair head on over to Cos Bar. You can buy a make-up application or buy products and get a make-up application included (check with Cos Bar for pricing). They carry my favorite brands such as Bobbi Brown, Laura Mercier and Trish McEvoy. Just tell them you need make-up for photography.
  • Rent the Runway - Their motto is “Why buy when you can rent?”. Choose from over 1,000’s of designer pieces. You select the dress online, they ship it to you. No need to dry clean, they have that covered. All you need to do is wear the dress, be photographed looking gorgeous, send it back and you’re done. Easy- peasy!

Now that you’re armed with information to make yourself gorgeous, book that portrait session you’ve been dreaming about.
