Gratitude. The fact that we can’t go to the sto

Gratitude.
The fact that we can’t go to the store as often as pre-Covid-19 has made me realize I’ve taken many things for granted. Some of those things are simple and some not. Who would have thought that having lemons, limes, lettuce and eggs would feel like a luxury? Oh and what would I do without my phone and tv remote? At the end of the day, with people getting sick and some even dying, none of the items in my still life are really important. What really matters is staying healthy and connected to each other.

My version of William Hogarth’s “Painter and h

My version of William Hogarth’s “Painter and his Pug”, 1745 for today’s #isolationcreation . My son and I did our version of Hogarth’s painting, although I photographed him so it’s not a self-portrait like Hogarth’s. The outtakes of our dog are hilarious! This photograph is a composite of two plates. One of just my son, and the other the dog with props. I used one @profotousa B10 Plus in their 3’ soft box. The background is a simple vflat from @vflatworld with a large piece of fabric clipped to the top. All done in my small #nyc living room. The original painting can be seen at the @tate. All portrait & corporate photo shoots have been put on hold due to #COVID-19. I’m not complaining- happy to do my part to help us beat this thing. In order to keep my sanity, I’ve been experimenting photographing things I normally don’t. It’s been fun and a great way to prevent my brain from constantly thinking about the pandemic.
I was lucky enough to buy some white tulips at the grocery store. Thought they’d look good in a simple black and white photo. Not ground breaking work but better than not doing anything. #isolationcreation
